Hi suga,

found your blog post about fong dai tong's concert on google blog search and i am glad that i found a blog post that share similar opinion about the concert! i was at the concert on monday nite also and it was definitely one of the better ones that i have been to so far in HK (i also went to the david tao, leah dizon and nokia concerts this past week). Other than the david tao concert, i have to say all the other ones that i have been to have pretty bad atmosphere. don't get me wrong, all those singers/artists did great jobs at performing, but the crowds (the HK concert goers) did not react to the performances. that's a very sad i have to say. what i witnessed yesterday at the fong dai tong concert was something to cheer about as the crowd really reacted to khalil's performance. at the very beginning i felt that he was nervous and uptight. it was not until he suggested that we all should have fun + let's stand up that the whole crowd in starhall stook up! wao was that amazing and something to cheer about. it was almost like singing gospel together in a church!

how i wish that warner would do what they did in the TW 3rd album promotion concert about standing section. it would have been great if they setup a standing section in front of the stage. Yesterday proves it that fong dai tong definitely have the influence and power to handle a real concert influencing the crowd.

it really didn't matter what he says really as ppl are all there to hear his music. it was apparent that he still have a long way to go before communicating properly in cantonese to the HK crowd (ppl in HK are less forgiving with what public figures say). but it was a different story when he tried to talk over some music backdrop.

a friend of mine went to the first show on sunday and he complained about the drummer's performance that nite as being inadequate, how his style is more suitable for rock rather than soul/r&b. i find him not bad in the monday show and khalil did mention about how bad the sunday show was.

i find the tree + chair + light decoration very neat idea. if you remember, his 3rd album is about the environment preservation. and the scene actually goes well with quite a few songs from his 3rd album (namely *park*)

the 3 projection screens are a must in modern day concerts... ppl (especially HK ppl) would complain about a lack of screens. this is like a fixture in all concerts.

to your final comment about fong dai tong's survival in HK. it's gonna be hard in HK if he doesn't somehow adopt to the HK way, as it is almost impossible to change the whole market just by himself. In worse case, at least he is gaining popularity in TW, malaysia and some other regions in asia (hopefully china too). That's something i am glad about as a fan of him coz i want to see him being able to continue making musics that he loves! Cheers!
